Marble

The classification of stones into marble and non-marble may form the widest spectrum in terms of ingredients. In this type of rock, which is well known by the market, there are limestone stones to sandstones. Some of them are considered as rock deposits and some of the metamorphic rocks.

آTypes of marble, which are sandstones, are typically made of quartz grains and bonded together by cement materials. Sandstones have a layered structure, and in all of them veins can be seen. The grains of sandstones can be seen from about seventy microns to four millimeters, which turn into “conglomerate” with the coarsening of the grains. These tiny pieces are interlocked with another material that plays the role of cement. Among these cements, silica cement is the longest of them. Iron oxide is also a strong cement, but it is likely to be weaker than silica, while making the stone more colorful.
Clay Cement has disadvantages. The binder clay is not strong, it also absorbs the moisture of the rock, making the rock vulnerable to frost. Still, hard sandstones and low water absorption have a lot of life, but softer ones may be damaged by frost. As it was said, clay veins in stone are a weakness. The voluminous mass of sandstone is usually about 6.2 tons per cubic meter. Sandstones range from the point of view of water absorption. Hard and dense types have less than 1% water absorption. Its compressive strength is between sixty to eighty Mpa. Most of the sandstones are affected by exposure to the atmosphere and because of their oxidation, the iron compounds in them become discolored. This change of color does not necessarily indicate the destruction of stone, because it sometimes makes the stone more beautiful.

Marble in the outer space The composition of the minerals and components of the marble is so fast that they are weathered at the surface and in the middle, and therefore the use of these rocks in open space is not recommended because in the first time, its surface is weathered and then penetrated The water in the veins of these rocks will see the corrosion and soldering of the limestones of the seams. When frozen and increasing in volume, its appearance becomes deeper in cracks. Limestone marbles are initially dissolved by the process of airborne dissolution. The effect of rain or superficial waters may occur, slowly and gradually, but it certainly occurs. This effect is likely to show itself to be completely non-uniform. If part of the rock is cemented, these parts will resist the dissolution process over the adjacent carbonate portions, and the appearance of the stones becomes uneven and smallpox. It has sometimes been seen that the surface of these rocks is flaky, separated from the original stone.
